I had to call Eddie and Yukito in from their solar array inspection run. Needed them to solve a power problem. Totally my fault. Diana and Al were busy with launch prep. Stepan and Kate were asleep. I was trying to get a jump on water purification system maintenance, and my tools were kind of spread around. I decided to borrow tools from the airlock.
I forgot about Eddie’s tomato project needing constant negative pressure to the roundhouse. I hadn’t re-pressurized the hab completely after being in the airlock, and when I went into the roundhouse to grab parts, dust and pollen from the tomatoes got into… well, into pretty much everywhere. Sticky and dusty don’t make for good partners with sensitive electrical equipment.
The scrubber fried a circuit working overtime to clean the air, so the guys came inside to grab gear and went back out to repair the hab power distribution unit. Could have been a much bigger problem, but we have drills and procedures and all the usual, so while they were in EVA gear longer than we’d normally like, they weren’t beyond protocol. Really, it’s just a day in the life living on the moon.
